If you're on this page, it probably means you'd like to join us here at The St. John Ambulance Brigade. It's not to hard to do, all you need to be is 18+ (under 18?) and you don't even need any medical experience.
Why Join?
Our volunteers are trained in first aid to treat all sorts of injuries ranging from headaches to heart attacks. They use these skills to provide first aid treatment at a wide variety of public events. Volunteers often arrange further medical assistance and transport for patients, or provide comfort and rest to people in need of more prolonged care.
What does it involve? Role Using your first aid skills to treat people with injuries. You could be the first person on the scene of an accident and may be able to help in the following ways: To me there is nothing greater than helping to save lives. It's wonderful to know you can make a difference. •Assessing a patient •Dealing with unconscious patients •Dealing with patients who are not breathing •Dealing with injuries and bleeding. Our Work
- Weekly meetings and practice/ training sessions
- First Aid duty at major public and sporting events - Care in the Community work - Competitions (if you are interested) - Further training in emergency care and treatment What qualifications do you need?
You don't need any previous first aid experience, as our training will equip you with all the skills you need for the role.
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to obtain further training in emergency medical care. AED (Automated External Defibrillation) training and EFR (Emergency First Responder) training is available to volunteers if desired. Form Please contact us through this form...
